Similar to the recent phasing out of inefficient 240V incandescent “General Service” light bulbs, mains voltage reflector lamps including PAR lamps will need to comply with MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standards) by October 2016. This means that if you supply products that have these 240V incandescent lamps fitted, then you will need to ensure the lamps comply with MEPS and are registered before import. It is recommended you start the dialogue with your lamp suppliers. This includes the following shapes:
PAR (Parabolic Aluminised Reflector), ER (Ellipsoidal Reflector), R (Reflector) and MR (Multifaceted Reflector) types.
The lamp caps applicable to the above shapes are;
B15 and B22d (Bayonet Cap) and E14, E26 and E27 (Edison Screw) and also GU10.
