Circuit Breakers – Extra tests required to sell in Victoria
The Victorian Director of Energy Safety has published a Prohibition of Supply of Electrical Equipment effective 1st July 2018. This covers “Compact RCBO’s. These “safety switches” are generally found on your switchboard. It has been found that when wired in the reverse direction to normal, the unit fails to operate on a fault. This has led to a fatality and Energysafe has adopted the policy that all Compact RCBO’s sold after 1st July 2018 meet the new tests which confirm they operate even when wired “backwards”. If you sell these devices, you have until then to have the additional testing performed and have your compliant product details listed on the Energy Safe Victoria website (after 1st May 2018) Contact QEC Global to arrange for the extra testing and registrations to occur well before the deadlines.
